The Australian soap opera Neighbours, was first screened on 27 October 1986 on BBC One, in the United Kingdom, and achieved huge popularity among British audiences. The on-screen wedding of popular couple Scott Robinson and Charlene Mitchell, was watched by a large domestic audience in November 1988, by which time both their actors had launched pop careers. In February, Eddie Edwards became the first competitor to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping. One Moment in Time was used as a promotional song for the Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.
